Using the AI caption writer
Zestly's AI caption writer is powered by Claude (by Anthropic) and can generate platform-optimised captions in seconds. It's available on all plans.
How to open the AI writer
In the post composer, click the AI Caption button (sparkle icon) in the toolbar above the text editor.
Writing a prompt
You can prompt the AI in plain language. For example:
- •*"Write an Instagram caption for a coffee shop promoting our weekend brunch special"*
- •*"LinkedIn post announcing we've just won a regional business award. Keep it professional but warm."*
- •*"Three short caption options for a before/after renovation photo"*
The more context you give, the better the output. Include details like:
- •The platform (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
- •The tone you want (casual, formal, fun, urgent)
- •A specific call to action ("link in bio", "book now", "comment below")
- •Any hashtags you want included
Using Brand Voice Memory
If you've set up Brand Voice Memory (see that article), the AI will automatically match your brand's tone and style without you needing to describe it each time.
Generating and editing
Click Generate. The AI will produce a caption (usually 2–4 seconds). You can:
- •Use this — inserts the caption into the composer
- •Regenerate — generates a new variation with the same prompt
- •Edit prompt — modify your prompt and regenerate
Always review AI-generated content before scheduling. The AI may occasionally:
- •Get a fact slightly wrong (especially with real-world data)
- •Use informal language that doesn't match your brand
- •Generate hashtags that are too generic
Platform-specific output
If you've selected multiple platforms in the composer, click Generate per platform and the AI will write a tailored version for each one — different lengths, tones, and formatting for Instagram vs LinkedIn vs X.
Caption credits
AI captions are unlimited on all Zestly plans. There's no per-use charge.
